2nd Volunteer Meeting

Second volunteer meeting was held on December 6, 2014 at Tufts university. Despite rain over 30 alums attended the meeting. After some tea and snacks, the meeting started with Ajay Bhardwaj asking few IIT trivia questions that everyone enjoyed. They were followed by Raj Laad presenting PanIIT’s composition, charter and activities. He answered several questions from audience. Ajay Bharadwaj presented 2016 conference mission, potential themes, core and advisory team, summary of plan and financials. He explained how volunteers can help by actively participating, reaching out to others and donating. Raj Laad described the notion of crowd funding where alumni can donate over three years.

Three teams, viz. Marketing, Sponsorship and Program, were formed among volunteers who brainstormed activities of each team. Those ideas were presented to the group as a whole.

The meeting was very productive and lot of ideas were discussed which will be reviewed as we plan for the conference.

The Indian Institutes of Technology Society in New England (IITSINE) hosted their second annual Diwali party on Saturday, October 18, at the All Saints Episcopal Church in Chelmsford, MA. The event was well attended by more than 100 IIT Alumni and their families and friends, marking it as another successful IITSINE event.

IITSINE President, Raj Laad, welcomed the guests and announced that IITSINE will be hosting the 2016 PanIIT Conference in Boston. The main event for the evening was a talent show. Over-enthusiastic participation from the men, women and children in the crowd and lots of awesome talent on display made the judges’ job very difficult. Sadhwi Srinivas was adjudged the winner of the talent show for mesmerizing the audience with her graceful dance moves. Runners-up spot went to Amrita Vadhera & Sindhura Devalraja for an energetic rendition of bhangra.
The delicious dinner for the party was catered by Rasoi and featured both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. After a hearty meal, the guests danced the night away to the melodies and beats of DJ Jay Thakrar.
